Terms of Service

Last updated: August 19, 2026

Please read these Terms of Service ('Terms') carefully before using FirePath. By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using FirePath, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. If you are using the service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

FirePath provides an online resume builder that allows users to create, edit, and export professional resumes. Features may vary and are subject to change without notice.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose
  • Upload malicious content or attempt to compromise the platform
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or reproduce the service without permission
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service

5. Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of the resume content you create. By using the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process your content solely to provide the service.

The FirePath application, branding, and underlying source code are licensed under the MIT licence. The software is provided 'as is' without warranties of any kind.

6. Privacy

Our collection and use of your personal data is described in ourPrivacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

By using the service, you agree that we may collect and process your data as necessary to operate, improve, debug, and secure the service, and to comply with applicable legal obligations.

7. Billing, Subscriptions, and Refunds

FirePath offers a free tier and a paid Pro plan. The Pro plan is billed through Stripe at the interval you choose at checkout: monthly, every 3 months, or every 6 months. All prices are displayed in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are inclusive of any taxes we are legally required to collect.

All subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period using your saved payment method. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain Pro access until that date.

Refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis within 7 days of purchase if the Pro features have not been materially used (for example, no exports, soft-skills scans, or AI generations have been performed against your account during the billing period). After 7 days, or where Pro features have been materially used, subscriptions are non-refundable for the current billing period, though you may cancel to stop future charges. Multi-month plans (3-month and 6-month) are not prorated on cancellation. To request a refund, email team@firepathresume.com with your account email and order details.

We may change plan pricing from time to time. Existing subscribers continue at their current price through the end of their billing period; any change takes effect on the subsequent renewal and will be communicated in advance.

8. AI-Assisted Content and Your Responsibility to Review It

Parts of the service use AI to draft and analyse resume content. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or worded in a way that overstates your experience. It can also produce statements that read as factual but are not.

You are responsible for reading, verifying, and editing everything the service generates before you use it. You alone decide what goes into your resume, your cover letter, and your application, and you are responsible for the accuracy of every statement in them.

This matters more in fire service hiring than in most fields. Departments verify employment history, certifications, and education, and a statement that cannot be supported can cost you a conditional offer or disqualify you from a process. Treat every generated line as a draft to check against your own record, not as a finished claim.

The service is a writing tool. It does not review your application for accuracy, does not verify your credentials, and cannot tell you whether a claim is supportable. Only you can do that.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided 'as is' and 'as available' without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We make no representation about hiring outcomes. We do not guarantee that using the service will help you obtain employment, an interview, or a higher score in any hiring process, and we make no claim about how any particular department, panel, or applicant tracking system will treat a resume created with the service. Hiring decisions are made by employers on criteria we neither control nor observe.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FirePath and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any lost employment opportunity, lost earnings, lost profits, lost data, or reputational harm, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. This applies even if we have been advised that such damages are possible.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or fifty Canadian dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, and consumer protection legislation in your province or country may give you rights that cannot be waived. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud, for gross negligence, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Where a limitation above is unenforceable, it applies to the fullest extent the law allows and the remainder of these Terms stays in force.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FirePath and its operators from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party and arising from content you submit, publish, or send using the service, from your breach of these Terms, or from your violation of any law or of the rights of another person. This does not apply to claims arising from our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

12. Time Limit for Claims

To the extent permitted by law, any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service must be brought within one year after the claim arises. Claims brought after that period are permanently barred, except where applicable law provides a limitation period that cannot be shortened by agreement.

13. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict of law rules. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer protection laws of the place where you live, or of your right to bring proceedings there.
